Theme FAQ — Installation, Licensing, Customisation & Support.

Installation & Setup

01

How do I install the CharityGlow Theme on my WordPress site?

Download the theme ZIP from your CharityGlow account. In WP Admin → Appearance → Themes → Add New → Upload Theme → select charityglow-theme.zip → Install Now → Activate. After activation you will see a prompt to install the FREE CharityGlow Donation Plugin (required for campaign and donation features). Click "Begin installing plugin" and activate it. That's the full setup — ~3 minutes total.

02

Is the FREE CharityGlow Donation Plugin required to use the theme?

Yes. CharityGlow Theme is purpose-built for CharityGlow Donation Plugin data (campaigns, donations, progress, donors, forms). The theme will activate and display generic pages without the plugin, but ALL fundraising-specific templates, progress bars, donor walls, donation checkout layouts, campaign archives and reward tiers require the FREE plugin. CharityGlow Pro is optional — it unlocks advanced campaign types, gateways and reports, but is NOT required for any theme feature to work.

Demo Import

03

How do I import one of the 3 ready fundraising demos? Will it delete my existing content?

After activating Theme + Free Plugin, go to WP Admin → Appearance → Theme Demos. Pick your demo (General Nonprofit, Church/Faith, or Animal Shelter — the 3 currently ready-to-import) and click "Import Demo". The importer adds demo pages, campaigns, menu structure, widgets and media — it NEVER deletes, edits or overwrites your existing posts, pages, media or user data. Additional niche demos ship for free to all active license holders as they are released.

04

Can I switch demos after launching? Or import parts of multiple demos?

You can re-run the demo importer any time. Each re-run adds demo content as NEW drafts/pages (duplicate slugs get -2 suffix) so your live content is untouched. Mixing parts of multiple demos is fully supported: import Demo A for its homepage layout, then Demo B for its single-campaign template and Demo C for its events grid — the Customizer lets you pick which template variant renders on each archive. Our services team can also do a curated hybrid import for you if you request a quote.

Updates & Licensing

05

How many websites can I use CharityGlow Theme on? What's the update policy?

Single-site license = 1 live production + 1 staging. 5-site license = 5 prod + 5 staging. Agency license = unlimited sites (your own or client sites). All paid licenses include 12 months of theme updates, security patches, WordPress compatibility releases and 1-click update via WP Admin → Dashboard → Updates. After 12 months the theme continues working forever on the last version you downloaded — only new updates stop (you can renew at 30% discount).

06

What is your refund policy for the theme?

14-day no-questions-asked money-back guarantee. If CharityGlow Theme does not work for your project within the first 14 days of purchase, email refunds@charityglow.com with your license key and we will process a full refund within 2 business days. Exclusions apply only if you downloaded the bundle, already requested source-code access or already submitted custom development work (services are non-refundable once scoping has started).

07

Will theme updates break my customisations? Should I use a child theme?

If you edit PHP/CSS inside the parent CharityGlow Theme folder — yes, a future update will overwrite those edits. That is standard WordPress theme behaviour, not a bug. We STRONGLY recommend using our official CharityGlow Child Theme (included for free in every theme download ZIP as charityglow-child.zip) for any PHP, function or style customisations. Activating the child theme takes 20 seconds, your Customizer settings and content are 100% preserved, and all future parent theme updates are safe.

Customisation & Builders

08

Does CharityGlow Theme work with Elementor? Gutenberg blocks? Both?

Both, fully. The theme ships native layouts for WordPress Block Editor (Gutenberg) — every page template uses blocks. For Elementor users (Free or Pro), CharityGlow Pro plugin adds 12 purpose-built Elementor widgets (Campaign Grid, Progress Bar, Donor Wall, Donation Form, Impact Stats, Reward Tiers, etc.) styled with theme design tokens so your Elementor-built pages look identical to native theme pages, not two clashing systems. The theme never forces a page builder on you.

09

Can I translate the theme into my language? Is it RTL-ready?

Yes and yes. CharityGlow Theme ships a fully internationalised POT file (languages/charityglow-com.pot) with every user-facing string. You can translate it using Loco Translate, Poedit or WPML. 100% of the UI strings are translatable — including checkout labels, progress bar text, donate button copy and "Donor wall" headings. The theme is also fully RTL (Right-To-Left) tested for Arabic, Hebrew, Urdu, Persian and Kurdish: layouts flip cleanly, including progress direction, multi-step checkout order and sticky CTA placement.

Hosting & Performance

10

What hosting do you recommend for CharityGlow Theme + Plugin?

Minimum requirement: PHP 7.4+, MySQL 5.7+, WordPress 6.2+, 256MB PHP memory limit. For performance we recommend: (1) Shared: SiteGround GrowBig or Namecheap Stellar Plus (FastCGI + Object Cache), (2) VPS/Cloud: DigitalOcean Basic 2GB with RunCloud or GridPane, (3) Managed WP: WP Engine Startup or Kinsta Starter. Live donation sites doing >1,000 donations/month should use a VPS or Managed WP plan with Redis object cache and CDN enabled.

11

What browsers and devices are supported?

Desktop: Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari — last 2 stable versions. Mobile: Chrome Mobile, Safari on iOS, Samsung Internet — last 2 stable versions on iOS 15+ and Android 11+. Tested every release on actual viewports: 320px (iPhone SE), 375px, 390px, 414px, 768px, 1024px, 1280px, 1440px, 1920px. IE 11 is NOT supported (no modern WordPress theme supports IE 11 in 2025 and we won't either).

Support

12

What's included in theme support vs something I need to pay extra for?

Included FREE with every theme license (12 months): Bug reports, feature clarifications, "how do I do X" usage questions, help with demo import that fails, WordPress compatibility questions and CSS for 1-2 small visual tweaks. NOT included (payable via Services quote): Custom design changes, custom new features, payment gateway integration that is not already supported, 3rd-party plugin conflicts, hosting/server configuration, speed optimisation beyond what ships by default, and full website build projects. For any of those, request a Services quote — we'll respond within 1 business day.
